    lol!

Yes, there are people who meditate in an attempt to destroy the ego. So not a good plan. But....the ego is apparently to be tamed, killed and to be gotten rid of.

Thing is...death is not about silence, or a quiet mind. Death is a very lively adventure. You're thoughts happen, like quickly....and although the ego does play a smaller role after death......it is a necessity while living in the physical universe.

Meditation, should open the inner senses, brighten perceptions and enhance life experiences.

Edit: Some meditators seek a Nirvana, or to merge with source.... (that doesn't ever happen).

Meditation notes rising and falling of emotions and thoughts, without adding affect. This is a step beyond later Heidegger's focus on "events." The mindfulness of meditation permits awareness of self, even unto Self-realization and Soul-realization:" Related books: "Autobiography of a Yogi;" "The Path of the Higher Self;" "Return to the One: Plotinus's Guide to God-Realization;" "A Philosophy of Universality;" "The Philosophy of Consciousness without an Object."

Thinking about anything is an act of life. Even when your just meditating on it.

As regard to spirituality, meditation is technically a training to die. What is being considered here as dying, in spiritual point of view, is not the death of the physical body. Instead, it is during one's deep meditative moment that a person finds his true-self. And in that finding of his true-self, the ego, which is the false-self, dies.

The finding of one's true-self is termed as the awakening-to-the-self, and others call it "self-enlightenment". And at this stage of one's life, his awareness changes direction from the old-self, which is the ego, to the true-self, which one has truly awakened to. Such is the death that meditation is referring about, the changing direction of awareness of oneself.

When a person is already self-realized, he is now able to relinquish the strong clutches of delusion to life, for he has now the right tool to understand the seemingly elusive "reality of life".

Meditation is to realize the "I" within, which exists for ever and lives even after the body dies.

    "training to die"

does a ball need training to stop rolling?

does a falling object need training for when it inevitably hits the ground?

    question makes zero sense

Yes. We view it as "How to Die" from our side. But on the other side, it is actually how to be awake and stay awake.

meditation is a training to conquer death and achieve nirvana.
