Singer sewing machine keeps tangling up?

Worked fine yesterday but then I tried sewing a backpack, whatever that material is, which jammed it. Now it keeps tangling up in the bobbing area. It won't grab the bobbing spool at all. I've re thread the machine a few times, put a new needle on and it keeps doing the same thing. Suggestions?

    That thread does look thick.

You should be using general purpose thread, like this:

Are you threading the machine with the pressure foot UP?

Did you bring the bobbin thread up and pull it behind the needle

Are you holding on to the upper and lower thread tail for the first few stitches?

If you are sewing a backback, you may need a different sized needle for the fabric you are sewing on.

Clean the machine completely, including under the feed dogs. Replace the bobbin with a new one. Rethread.

The thread in the bobbin looks pretty heavy, perhaps too heavy for a home machine. What size needle are you using and what size thread (v69, tex 40?)
