Sequels, remakes, reboots making a TV show into a movie. .. . .
They are all easy money-makers and guaranteed box office deals because people are stupid and are more interested in something that was already made before, than seeing something new and original.. Hollywood studios know this. That's why they would rather remake a previous idea, it's a
guaranteed money-maker even if the movie sucks.
They don't want to risk investing $50 Million on a new, different movie because most movie-goers are not interested.
It's all about making money. It's a sure thing that Mission Impossible Part 5 w/Tom Cruise will attract millions of customers. Even if Part 4 had very little intrigue and none of them have any resemblance to the original TV series. But some new, independent film with no big stars won't sell enough tickets, even if it's a way better film.
You need to start a new trend with your friends and say:
"I'm not interested in seeing Avengers part 7, to XMen part 6,
instead I might go see that indy film playing at that little theater."

I think most of them are money grabers.
Most of them are worst than the original, few are better.
For an example, The Godfather Part II, Star Wars V, Alien 2, are some exceptions.

Sometime they work (Aliens),sometimes they don't (Predator 2).Some films are too great and should be left alone(A Clockwork Orange),
