When asking a question in Yahoo Answers there used to be options as to what category you want the question to be placed. Where is it now?

You do not have that choice at first now......... Yahoo decided a software program based on keywords in your Question knows better than the human person Asking so they let a program decide which Category Questions should be in and automatically places them there.

This Question will go in Yahoo products as you have the word Question in it.

You can change the category if the auto select category is not where you want your Question to be.

Once you submit Click Edit / Edit category...Click All.... find your category and subcategory and submit.

Be aware that Yahoo gave all level 7 users the ability to move any Question to any Category.

Once your Question is submitted is some level 7 users that think having the ability to move Questions anywhere is a new toy to play with.

If you find your question moved.......... You can move it back by clicking Edit / Edit category and moving it back where you want it.

It depends on what version of the site you are using.

<Desktop Version>

The option to choose has been removed from the Desktop Version of the site and all you can do is to place the question and then go back and click Edit/Edit Category and then you can change the category that way.

<Mobile Version>

If you ask a question using the Mobile Version of the site then you can decide before submitting the question as to which category you want to place it in (but you cannot change it afterwards via the Mobile Version of the site).

So in short

- If you want to pick the category before submitting the question use the Mobile Version

- If you want to edit the category after posting then use the Desktop Version.

On a mobile device you can switch between the Desktop and Mobile Versions on the bottom left hand side of the page under the categories.

After the question posts, click Edit and click Edit Category.
