Am I going to get ticketed if I don't get my car inspected?
I'm in Texas. Right now this state is in the process of switching from a 2 sticker system to a single sticker system. This change started on March 1, 2015...the day when Texas quit issuing inspection stickers. Once this change is complete you can only renew your registration if your car has a passing inspection on record
From Mar 1, 2015 thru Feb 29, 2016 you can renew registration if your car has a valid passing inspection.
My registration was renewed in April 2015 and had a valid passing inspection at the time. My inspection sticker expires today (7/2015). According to http://twostepsonesticker.com/ I don't have to get my car inspected until 2016 but no more than 90days prior to April 2016 when the registration sticker expires.
Thing is, in my town the police are notorious for writing tickets at even the tiniest infraction....like going 1mph over the speed limit (happened to my mom and she was almost fired from her job over it...school bus driver). ...so I'm worried that I'll get ticketed anyway despite what the new rules say. I have a very clean driving record and would like to keep it clean...no tickets.
@Am0S: This whole thing is confusing! LOL I'm just worried that the local police will ticket me anyway simply based on the date printed on the inspection sticker.

In 2016, your inspection will be required in order to receive your registration. Until that time, your vehicle is declared to have passed inspection because you have renewed your registration. The web page is a little confusing, but it is letting you know that there is no need to get an inspection to stay current or bother with the two dates. After this year, only the registration sticker date will matter, because it means you passed inspection also.

If you didn't get your car inspected today, you will get ticketed the next time the cops see your car.

The police cannot make up their own laws. If you're not in violation of the law and they "write you a ticket", not only is the ticket invalid, you may sue them for violation of your civil rights. A citizen-friendly jury could award you a million dollars, as a gesture to the idiot police.

This IS the STUPID question of the day. You should know the answer to that...YES! When the police pull you over I hope they slap you with the maximum fine allowed by law if for no other reason than asking an incredibly stupid question. Ahem...why do you think only 3 people bothered to answer?
