Replace the batteries in the remote. You can try cleaning the button contacts (inside) with a pencil eraser, if it still doesn't work, complain to Bose customer care and demand a replacement, (Since they charged you the equivalent of a half dozen comparable table radios anyway, it ought to have a lifetime warranty) If all else fails, look at it as an opportunity to replace an overpriced ripoff table radio with one that performs normally without costing a small fortune for no conceivable reason, and grow in wisdom. You do realize that for the same price you can buy a full stereo receiver and a good pair of bookshelf speakers that will out perform that piece of old folks sales propaganda, right?.

If it is just the remote there is a universal fix. Crack the thing open and add tin foil under the messed up buttons. Done this a few times and it works like charm. You can maybe rub under the button with a piece of paper to bring out the new surface. Well of course there is no guarantee but it wouldn't hurt trying.

The only controls on that thing are via the remote. If everything else on the remote works, I would assume the volume buttons are worn out. The remote that comes with the radio has "membrane" buttons on it; are they showing signs of wear?

I would try a different remote.

    Here's the OEM version:

I have this one. The buttons are lit so you can see it in the dark!

A lot of times what happens is that as the batteries become weaker in the remote a lot of people instead of replacing the batteries start pressing harder and harder on the buttons...eventually this causes damage to their remote....instead of pressing harder on the remote buttons change the batteries first...in the long run this will be less expensive and your remote will last longer....
