In Yahoo Answers - in the baby name section, I wonder how many people who say that they are writing a book -- are actually writing a book?

They are asking for help in choosing a name for their character.

I am wondering if any of these people are actually truly writing a book. I figure these are teenage girls who are wanna-be writers. Because a real author would NOT waste time asking questions on Yahoo.

They aren't really writing a book. They are probably lonely teens that need to find a way to communicate with another human. A real Arthur most likely has never heard of Yahoo Answers. Nor would they have time to be here.

BTW I am writing a book, do you think Anna is a good name for the wife of an abusive man? She is blonde with red eyes and a.......... LOL JK ;)

Actually asking other peoples opinion makes them feel like their characters will be accepted by people. Because the main character's name influencea the readers so much. Yeah they might be teens who wanna start writing stories or they might be adult people who wanna write a good story.

Anyway I guess they may not be advanced writers but they ask for help and we can give advice to help them for choosing good names. Maybe some day they'll be writers and we may be the ones who read their books. So helping people to feel accepted about their story is a good idea.

I personally (an 18 year old girl who IS writing a novel) don't ask bc names come to me easily but some ppl want a certain style to get a message through in their character. Like i said Im an author and I don't feel like being on here is a waste of time, I get lots of good ideas for these Q&As

They're probably writing Wattpad books and that's it.

I really find it useless when people describe the characters look ans expect people to suggest the perfect names. There's really no perfect name for a blonde kid,a sick woman or an abusive guy.

I have been trying to write two novels for the last eleven years, well I have children. I did ask for opinions on French surnames for my main character. I asked here and on books and Authors category. I think that teenagers may be asking for ideas for their Creative Writing classes.

No, they'd just use the name generator in Scrivener and be done with it.
