what methods/ways do YOU use when you edit large business or college papers? I need to edit mine from 145 pages to 45 pages.?

    First, get rid of the passive language (look at where you have the verb to be in any form)

    Next get rid of unnecessary adjectives

    Next get rid of redundant phrasing (things like "at this moment in time" --> use "Now" or "at present")

    Then remove irrelevant segments. In 45 pages, you should not require more than 10 (and maybe as little as 5) main points.

    Not counting your title page, your executive summary should be less than half a page, your main summary and introduction no more than 4 pages; conclusions and recommendations about 4 pages, which leaves about 35 pages for your main report/paper.

    In business, I seldom write reports longer than 15 pages -- not counting investigation time, it takes about a week to write the first draft, and two weeks to edit it down to a manageable size.

    good answer; I am "needing" to do something dif;

    instead of writing 8 biz plans [or, growing into 7 additional firms]

    I am putting them into one. Never done this before but I TEACH

    biz plan writing--I am seeking peers' perspectives
