Calling all audiophiles! I need help deciding on headphones.?

So I made the mistake of buying beats and I was wondering what's the best headphones I can buy for around $100. I can even maybe find them used for that price so keep that in mind. Thank you!!

I also have to add a vote for the Sony MDR-7506 or MDR-V6 twins. However I do like the treble of the Sennheiser HD280 Pro a little better, but the Sony headphones seem to have a more solid build. I made 2 '280HD headphones into 1 (both damaged in different ways) and was a bit let down at their built quality - which I must say surprised me for Sennheiser.

Well certainly one of the best sounding budget heardphones I've heard are the Grado SR60e, for $89 Sonically excellent, very neutral, musical, no they dont have tons of bass but whats there is pretty accurate.

Pro's: musical, never harsh, pretty good detail, tonally well balanced.

Cons's: Comfort, they are not good for long term listening, bass is a dat lean, Open back design outside noises can be heard which also means the will transmit a lot of sound so others close will hear it. (typical of open back designs)

Now I will mention that personally I perfer the sound of open back designs, they sound more open and dont sound like the sound is in your head. But that should be considered if you must isolate the sound from others and also you dont want outside sounds to be a issue, then you want a closed back design. And honestly there are'nt many good ones to choose from and the decent to good ones aren't cheap.

Of course there are better headphones above this price range, but you said $100 range so. I would'nt recommend buying used headphones myself but.

Just wanted to throw this in. Tascam - a brand known for high end recording machines - the pro line of TEAC, also makes headphones. They have a $99 pair of headphones - the TH-200X. It's intended for studio use so you know it won't be one of those low-fi units designed for bass head teenagers. You can find it in the usual musician stores, Musician's Friend, Guitar Center and Full Compass. I've used Tascam gear for decades and as far as I am concerned if you can get these cans for a hundred bucks, it's a steal. I'd bet that they will rival my $350 Beyerdynamics.

Give the Grado SR80e's a try. They are $99 a pair, at many websites, and they reproduce sound very well. The differences between them and your Beats will be night and day, as the Beats overemphasizes the bass response, which will sound terrible, once you have heard something different.

Sennheiser is the most inexpensive quality manufacturer, other equally reputable brands Shure, Grado, Denon, AKG, Bowers & Wilkins, Bang & Olufsen, Etymotic, Beyerdynamic and Audio-Technica are more expensive.

Ask on reddit in the /r/headphones section (read the rules before posting though, and people will help you find the right pair for your taste in music and lifestyle) Head-fi is also another place to start.
