Baby shower gift question?

I am making party favors for my sisters baby shower.

they are 2 inch tall votive candle holder jars, with a pencil inside and a pendant hangs from the eraser.

I wasnt sure what to use to keep the pencil in place. Then i thought, food color died beans to fill the jar and stick the pencil inside.

but now that i died the beans and filled half the 30 jars, I realize that beans could spill everywere.

does any one have any creative ideas to save the party favors?

Thanks!

If the glasses are lined with glitter paper, unless it is see thru type, a piece of Styrofoam would do. You can hot glue the Styrofoam to the bottom of the glass to hold into place (may have to cut a small hole in the glitter paper unless it is glued down)**just a dot so that they can remove and use the candle holders. If you can see thru the paper (like clear with just glitter sprinkled on/throughout it), then cover the Styrofoam first in metallic gift foil (or can get several colors from florist or just pink and blue or whichever/boy/girl) decorate with glue on glitter or use hot glue gun and put a "blob" of the metallic or non metallic shredded gift bag fill on to, be sure to use a "blob" so that some sticks to glue and not to you. Remove left over shred and do as many times as you need. Leave some loose and whimsy. Also, many type decorative gems, pearls at craft stores that could be glued to the Styrofoam. How heavy are jars? Will they turn over easy or do they need to be weighted down? If so, buy heavy duty washers (like screws and washers), take a small butter knife and hollow out shape of washer, insert washer into hole so that bottom of styrofoam will be flat ( or any small heavy weighted object like a iron fishing sinker--makes line sink into water) can get both at hardware stores and cut out shape and insert sinker/glue/ so that bottom of Styrofoam is level, hot glue into bottom of Styrofoam before gluing to bottom of jar. To get size of Styrofoam (buy at Wal Mart, Hobby Lobby, floral supply stores in sheets) turn glass upside down on Styrofoam and draw a circle on Styrofoam. Then cut out circle leaving just a tiny bit larger than opening. Use another piece of Styrofoam, to use to rub (sand) around circle to remove rough edges and smooth before putting in jar.

The jars are lined with glitter paper from Micheal's crafts, The pencil is really only there to hold up a glass pendent that is the real gift. Im looking for a creative and attractive way to hold up the pencil, i thought of candy of course but it would have to be hershy kisses or somthing individually wrapped. and whith everyone on diets, i wanted to avoid candy.

A little net bag with pink blue and white Jordan almonds, tied with a ribbon with the pendant on it would be so much prettier- and wouldn't be left behind. they're really not going to get the part about the pendant being the gift, with glasses and pencils involved.

    Adults don't expect favors.

Those are for small children attending a birthday party who feel like they should get something, because the birthday boy/girl got presents.

So you didn't even give them a candle, just the holder and a pencil?

Expect most of them to get left behind.

Just use a small piece of clear tape to hold the pencils

Ugh, who wants bens and pencils?

Dont waste your time and money, no one takes useless trinkets. A bag of mints would be better.

Why the hell do you think people would want to take home jars filled with pencils and tie-dyed beans?

and actual votive candle, use a soft one you can push the sharp end of the pencil into.
