Has the idea of evolutionary thought always been around before America was founded by the fathers?

There were evolutionary thoughts and theories of species changing over time since the Greeks and Romans.

Lemarck was the first to propose a theory of evolution, although Charles Darwin's grandfather also suggested the idea in his book Zoomania.

This was right around the turn of the 18th century, so I guess you could say it was after the founding of America.

  • I think you're trying to force a particular meaning into these words. Like all such philosophical discussions, start by defining your terms, so as to avoid three paragraphs by someone excited by the news from South Africa.
