Birth certificate replacement.?

I recently moved and just realized that my daughter's birth certificate and social security card were lost during the move. How do I go about replacing those?

Social security card - see ssa.gov for instructions. You cannot apply for a replacement card online. If you want to do it via mail as opposed to going to the office you can download SS-5, complete it and mail it to your nearest office (address also at ssa.gov) with whatever original documents are listed at ssa.gov. If you want to visit the office they are open weekdays from 9 to 4 except on Wednesdays when they close at noon.

As for the birth certificate you can get a certified copy at either the county clerk's office of the county of birth or from the state's vital records office. Go online for addresses and fees.

I hope you find some way of taking care of important documents more carefully. All someone needs to steal an identity is a birth certificate and social security number. If someone finds it who is dishonest then they will have found a gold mine.
