If a god has to exist, what makes you think it is a benevolent one ? And by what means do you decide that ?
Given the current world filled with all sorts of problems, a malevolent god, a neutral unintervening god or no god at all has much more explanatory power.

Well the bible says in Psalms 34:8 "Taste and see that God is good" you can't get that feeling by somebody else telling you how it feels. You have to see it for yourself, kind of like cooking, if you use a cookbook, sure the pictures look nice and tasty but would licking the pages of that cookbook get you the use taste as if you were to taste the real thing?. No its something you need to try yourself and come down to the conclusion of its somethingyou like or not. God is benevolent, god loves, he is also patient. He has many other qualities that we learn of when we read the bible. But most of all when we make God our friend which is something that's not impossible we will feel how great of a God he his to those who seek him and try to please him. Try it. Read the bible, pray, really make a search for God and you will see what I am talking about its a feeling like no other.

well, there is a God and the bible defines God as light, having no darkness, not even being able to look upon sin. now this God gave all authority to Jesus on earth and in its heaven. but this biblical jesus said he loved us so much that he layed down his life for us to be atoned with God, he faith and love was so great that he obeyed God even unto death. Satan would never do that. and if there is a society of kingdoms in our galaxy that is like the stargate series, if any are in rebellion against God, then Sure! there are non benevolent beings out there. the book 1Cor ch.8:5 says that there are many gods in heaven and earth, but to us there is ONLY ONE God and one lord. but the sacrifice that jesus did, was a selfless sacrifice for us, and thats what makes him benevolent in deed and in example.

What makes you believe that God is an emotive being in the first place?
Does weather have to be malevolent or benevolent too?
You're too simplistic a person, it seems.

Read the Bible.
There's actually an explanation there that carries much more force.
The Bible is quite clear and precise about where the problems in the world come from.
And it is quite clear about what God has already done, and what He will eventually do to resolve those problems.

God created us. What malevolent reasoning could he possibly have? Do you think he is going to convince us that one day he will return and rapture us away, and then come back and harvest us all for meat and slave labor?
..... Oh, I hope that's not the case.
