Soo. Sept 28th, blood moon eclipse and no end of the world. Have you learnt anything about the doom mongers yet?

Some Christian groups have been pinning their hopes on the 28th for a doomsday and Jesus turning up. Just wondering what new ideas of mass extinction they will come up with next

Yeah, the whole Israel becoming a nation and a generation shall not pass, is really putting the pressure on people like John Hagee. If you watch old videos of him from the 90's it's funny how he was totally wrong about future events and the rapture coming by 2007. 2007 was 40 years, though before it was 1988 but that didn't work out so then it was reset. The generation is dying off and that's a problem now.

I didn't know they were doing that. I was looking forward to the eclipse because they're fun to watch (especially in good weather), and I hadn't watched one in a while.

I suspect some of the craziness comes from the "blood moon" meme. Maybe it would help if we pointed out the source of the red color: while the moon's in the earth's shadow, it's getting only sunlight refracted around the earth by our atmosphere. So that red color comes from it being lit, for a short time, only by all the world's sunrises and sunsets.

Dude, doom mongering is a great way for religions to make money. Priest need a new Merc? Predict the end of the world and watch the money flow in

God loves humanity. Don't long for its destruction. Love humanity and do what God guides you to accomplish for the benefit of humanity. The book of Revelation is fiction. Read the truth in the teaching of Jesus in 4 books of the Bible - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Wait THAT is why people were talking about the end of the world? Wow, even stupider than normal for these kind of predictions.

True believers know that no one knows the day nor hour of Christ's return so we don't bother with dates. We just strive to live ready

They'll just keep moving the date forward. "Oh, I guess it didn't happen this time. But 2016! The world will DEFINITELY end in 2016!"

  • Oh boy, but folks never tire of it. That's the true disgrace. "Wolf" has been cried so many times, and yet folks can't help themselves.

Any slightly unusual astronomical event will do, or some event that only affects the USA.
