God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness. So God created man in His own image. Does God look like a human or a Spirit?

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent:

Num 23:19 (KJV)

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Psalms 8:4 (KJV)

LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!

Psalms 144:3 (KJV)

And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.

Ezek 2:1 (KJV)

------- God is a Spirit:

John 4:24 (KJV)

-------

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

John 3:6 (KJV)

It seems that in the spirit realm there is a "physical" nature. Sprit beings can see and communicate with other spirit beings. And from all the biblical accounts of God the best way to describe Him would be "indescribable."

As to what the image of God in man is, someone once explained it to me this way. Before the fall if man looked into a mirror he would have seen a clear image of God. After the fall it was as if the mirror had been shattered. Some parts are still clear, some parts don’t line up right, and some parts are beyond recognition. Man has become a shattered image of God.

What’s more each person’s image is shattered differently, which explains why we have unique abilities. We explain this by saying we have a “natural” talent in one area or another. In some folks this “natural” talent seems almost supernatural. But really it’s just that in the area of their talent the image of God is extraordinarily clear. (That part of their mirror wasn’t shattered.) I think before the fall Adam had all the talents common to man and he had them all in abundance.

Colossians 1:15 says Jesus is the (visible) image of the invisible God, and Hebrews 1:3 calls Him the exact representation of God’s being. Romans 8:29 says that God predestined believers to be conformed to the likeness of His Son. That means when we’re perfected the shattered image will be replaced with a perfect one. In the mean time, no matter how we try, we can’t reflect the true and complete image of God.

God is an invisible spirit. The Bible teaches that no human being has actually seen God. [1 John 4:12]

So it can't be described what Almighty God really looks like. Humans are made in God's image in that we have moral qualities just like him. We also have the ability to enjoy and appreciate the same things He does. That's something animals can't do.

The "image" need not be a physical likeness. The distinctive thing about humanity, as compared to the rest of the animal kingdom, is our minds.

It's been pointed out that when God is depicted saying "let us make man in our image," the only characteristic of God that has been described is his creativity. So one possible interpretation is that human creativity is the way in which we are images of God.

God is a spirit and since we can't see spirits no one knows what he looks like. When God said let us make man in our image he is referring to qualities such as His Cardinal Attributes which are Love, Power, Justice, Wisdom.

Being made in God’s image, humans have the capacity to reflect godly attributes. Surely we should try to cultivate such qualities as love, mercy, kindness, goodness, and patience, reflecting the One who made us.

Adam was a perfect son of God, made in His image and likeness.’ But since God is a Spirit, the resemblance could not be physical.

The likeness lay in qualities that elevated man far above the animals. Yes, implanted in man from the beginning were the qualities of love, wisdom, power, and justice.

He was endowed with free will and a capacity for spirituality. An innate moral sense, or conscience, enabled him to distinguish right from wrong.

Man had intellectual capacity, enabling him to meditate on the reason for the existence of humans, to accumulate knowledge of his Creator, and to develop intimacy with that One.

Thus equipped, Adam had all he needed to fulfill his role as administrator of God’s earthly handiwork.

The Bible account of man’s creation says: “God went on to say: ‘Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness.’” (Genesis 1:26)

Thus, humans were made with the potential for being like God, possessing the outstanding qualities he has, including wisdom, power, righteousness, and love.

Jesus stated that his Father is “a Spirit,” so this rules out any physical likeness between God and man. (Joh 4:24) Rather, man has qualities reflecting, or mirroring, those of his heavenly Maker, qualities that positively distinguish man from the animal creation.

we are the animals with the brains. Most dogs can't play on a computer or do complex math.

We do not have the same kind of body as a spirit persons so what he is saying is the ability to think and plan. To know right or wrong.

(Matthew 10:29-31) Notice that Jesus did not say that God would simply be aware of what happened to sparrows and to men. ... Because you are made “in God’s image”—with the potential for cultivating and displaying moral, intellectual, and spiritual qualities that reflect God’s own elevated qualities.

Evolution of man began millions of years before Adam and Eve (NEPHILIMS - Angels

    designed for earth).

    1. Man was "MADE(evolved), not in God's image, millions of years ago.

    2. Adam and Eve were "CREATED(not made) in God's image over eleven thousand years ago.

Adam and Eve were suppose to teach, not mate(forbidden fruit) with mankind . If you mate with mankind you die(lose supernatural powers).

(Gen. 1:26) Thousands of years ago God decided "let us(God & Sons) make man in our image" (teach man the Gospel)

(Gen. 1:27) So GOD(not us) CREATED Adam and Eve in His image - NEPHILIMS(Sons of God designed for earth).

That was what the Jews believed. Jesus taught us that God is a spirit person. Spirit persons do not have any physical form.
