How deep is the water where the Ashley River merges with the Cooper in South Carolina and what does the land look like?

Is the water here deep enough so that a wagon would have to float and the horses swim?

What is the land like? Grassy, trees, etc.

I need this info for my 18th century historical novel. Thank you ahead of time.

Yeah, it's very deep there. We're talking about the spot immediately south of Charleston. They empty into a bay that is open to the Atlantic Ocean, which is 2 or 3 miles across, and has lots of tides and currents. You probably couldn't float a wagon or swim horses across it.

In the 18th century there were almost certainly ferry boats that would take you from one side of one river to Charleston and then another one to take you across the other river.

    The land is pretty swampy.

Get a good history of Charleston at your library and there will probably be some old maps of what it looked like in the 18th century.

Well, sheesh, I never thought about ferryboats. Thank you! And I will read a book about SC.
