Well regulated, in 1791, meant in good working order or well maintained - referring to the gear that each Militiaman carried.

Each man was required to have sufficient powder, lead and spare flints to meet the state regulation.

It did NOT mean that the group was under Government control.

Read about Lewis and Clark again. Back then the men of each county got together to drill with their guns. Every man knew his own militia rank. Lewis and Clark were both generals in the militia.

The militia is every citizen. At the time that was only male land owners now it's all who can register to vote.

The well regulated part can be done in many ways but is not relevant to the right. National Guard, people who train in groups, people who take safety classes.

US Supreme Court, District of Columbia v. Heller

The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. Pp. 2–53

My Advice to you: Get over it.

You can't have a militia without armed men.

Not everybody is well trained, so that would mean b) is incorrect.

The first answer could very well be correct because all you did is reverse "well trained" and "militia".

It is (a), unless the government turns against the people. In that case you'd better have (b)

You never see the founders extoling the virtues of government. Instead you read G. Washington saying it is a "dangerous servant, and a terrible master". They included provisions against the "terrible master", in the constitution.

Supreme Court expanded it to everybody reasoning that you can't raise a militia without armed peeps.

You're welcome to fly to Washington and take it up with them.

A, but for the record, if you're referring to the second amendment, it says well REGULATED, not trained.
