It doesn't matter if it stopped a year ago, there are damages, and that's to your health and well being, especially if you are a minor, I mean, it's already horrible on an adult, imagine on a minor.

I think there's a jury for minors in the US?

It's a traumatic experience after all. Just be strong and heal. If you want you can speak to your doctor about it, if you feel like it has affected you to the point of depression, and you can tell your mom, but your mom may not want to let go. Idk, I tend to let go myself, but I would go to the doctor and/or therapist to just talk things out, so it doesn't ruin your health, you know what I mean? Your mother is not in the wrong either though. She loves you and feels it was unfair what happened. In a just world he would get prosecuted as well. I mean she is kinda right because she says, it's not up to you to get unhealthy because of some asshole, well she thinks right. Health comes first. I would let go, especially so it's easier to start from 0. You could just start from 0, but you can speak to a therapist first or a doctor, make sure it's a good one, so you can then start from 0 again, I think that helps a lot. Step by step, things will get better. xxx

She can't prosecute him at all in the US. She can turn the information over to the police and they can investigate, no matter what his age. He would be charged for the crime based on his age when it happened IF they feel he can be charged. Although there is now an internet trail since you said "it stopped a year ago".

you are the evidence if you testify. she can still file for a report whenever she wants, you can too since you're over 18.

there are plenty of cases where abuse victims come forward after years, sometimes decades of silence. joe paterno of penn state is a good example.

the police will investigate and ask questions to people of the connection, and if there's enough for a trial, ask the state prosecutor to go forward with the case

She can file a report to the police and they will probably talk to him and the police or the DA will determine if there is enough evidence to charge the guy. If the activities took place when he was a minor, regardless if he is now an adult, I don't think they can charge him as an adult.

She has no power to charge anyone. She can report to police. With no evidence, there is nothing to charge with.

All she can do is file a report and let the police investigate. It would depend in large part on your testimony. Don't testify...likely nothing happens accept your Mom is really pissed.

If she doesn't have this loser arrested, he could do this same thing to other kids! Would you be able to live with that kind of guilt on your conscience???

You cannot prosecute if there is no evidence. You have to Prove your case.

well, considering you just said there wasnt any evidence, i would say your case is very weak. comes down to he-said she-said.
