My friend is severely depressed and will not take medication?

He has been for over a year now and he has even been to therapy but he claims that the therapy sessions do no good and he says he would rather commit suicide than take the pills.

We re in high school; I have no idea what to do.

You need to stay in touch with your friend. Are you friends or friendly with any of their family, this could help if you can talk to them.

I was diagnosed in 1997, I was 35 then, now I am 53, I have had to change medication, and doses, and until a few years ago I was prescription free. I had some anxiety issues, and the recent prescription has helped. I have found the opposite to be true of what your friend says, the cognitive therapy portion of my treatment has been as much, or more helpful than the medication. It surely can depend on individuals. I think your friend is lucky to have you as a friend. I can only tell you to keep encouraging them, and if you are close enough to one of the family, talk with them about it in private
