    There are 8 boys and she needs to select 2. Therefore there are 8C2 ways to select the boys

    There are 18 girls and she needs to select 2. Therefore there are 18C2 ways to select the girls

    (I think you made a simple error just substituting 16 for 18)

    Answer = 8C2 * 18C2

    8C2 = 8 * 7 / 2 = 28

    18C2 = 18 * 17 / 2 = 153

    Answer = 28 * 153 = 4284

    Answer = 4284
