What does "bento" mean in German? Note that it is written in all lower-case letters, so it doesn't seem to be a noun.?

I read the periodical, Der Spiegel almost every day online. Recently, I have begun frequently seeing the term, "bento," I know the term as a Japanese lunchbox meal, but what does it mean in German?

It seems to be a journalistic category and Frauke Lüpke-Narberhaus is assigned to report on it for Der Spiegel. From context, I have not been able to determine it's meaning. Web searches seem only to explain the lunch box meaning. Here is the result or a search of the Der Spiegel site.

Update:

Please don't just answer "Japanese lunchbox." I know that meaning.

If the term is derived from that, please give some explanation. I know that a term for food (or mixed fragrances) may become a catch-all subject as in the French or Spanish potpourri

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/potpourripo...

Also, why is it all lower case in German?
