The makers of Iams always talk it up as if it's the best food a cat can ever have, but even if that's true my cats won't eat it. Certain varieties of Fancy Feast and Dine they love though, so I'd rather feed them that. It doesn't get wasted too often and it costs a lot less.
The prime fillet varieties of Fancy feast are the ones they eat. Tbh I think a lot of the other Fancy feast varieties are poor quality.
Personally I think Iams is just an expensive waste of money and the company is highly skilled at marketing, yet not necessarily at providing the greatest product.

My cat eats Fancy Feast classic beef. It is not the best food out there but it's what he wants so the vet said she'd rather have him eat than not eat so he shares 1 can a day and he gets a chicken thigh for the other meal. Plus he snacks on his Rx kibble.
Read the ingredients on the labels. They are listed in the order they appear in the product with first being most and last being least. The first four should not include water, grains or any by-products. If a label says broth or gravy just know that is flavored water and not healthy.

Iams USED to be decent food. But when P&G took over the company, they use cheap food in it and its still full of corn. Given the choice, I would take Fancy Feast canned over Iams dry. Agree to go with Max Cat (canned with a little dry). Ours loves Max Cat and its very reasonable in price but has good quality.

Neither kibble is good (but kibble shouldn't be fed anyway). Fancy feast classic canned is decent. Iams also has some grain free flavors which are decent. There are better quality foods though like wellness core, blue wilderness, halo, merrick before grain, taste of the wild, natural balance, natures variety etc.

Neither one is good.
Years ago Iams was one of the best on the market, but since them and Euckanuba was bought out by Proctor and Gamble(a detergent, and toilet paper company) it has gone down hill.
And Fancy Feast always garbage.

Neither one is good.
If you can get it at walmart or target, it is not a good brand.
Talk to your vet and see what kind of food they recommend. My vet recommended I try nutro by max cat. It is very budget friendly, but not too bad for my cat. She is a picky eater too, and she likes it.
