I am struggling developing a certain aspect of a character. Any tips?
She s woken up in a strange new society (possibly an alternate timeline or reality) and she s been convicted for a crime she doesn t remember committing. In this society, criminals are trained as guardians of the city (imagine a legal vigilante). I m having difficulty putting her in this position; she is young and accustomed to a modern 1st world life. Any suggestions or ideas on how this would affect her?

This is my guess:
She'd be confused (obviously). Like WTF are you doing?! What is this place! When they accuse her of a crime it really depends where she is. If she was on the street she'd run and seek help. If she was already restrained she'd probably deny it and say she genuinely doesn't know anything.
I hope someone informs her of what's going on, because in her situation she probably wouldn't submit and become a guardian so easily. Or, if there'll be no one helping her out, the only other way to get her head in the game would be fear.
Then she'd fall into despair and maybe have this whole plot of 'anything to survive' so that you don't go into the direction of suicide and submissive depression (that would be boring)
Or make it a mix. ok imma stop now I've gone too far, it sound like a cool idea so if your publishing or posting it anywhere tell me where :)

-For one thing, she would be confused about criminals being trained. You say she is used to a first world life, so she's probably used to criminals being thrown into jail.
-Another thing to consider is how different the technology is to her world. You don't explain whether this new society has different technology from her world. If there is a huge difference, she would likely struggle adapting to the new technologies.
-My last point is how she would perceived by others in this world. For them, this world and how it treats criminals is normal, so someone with a different outlook and different values would come across as strange to them.

Someone in a different time would want to know why something new to them is the way it is.
