I'm writing a circus-themed fantasy. Ideas for a plot?

I have every aspect of the short story written out (theme, character, style, etc.) but no actual plot. If you're confused, think about The Night Circus (I had a bit of a plot but then I discovered this story and now I have to rewrite it because they're too similar).

Here are the basic details :)

A woman finds a misplaced ticket to the circus in town.

The circus is magical, and there is also a magical parade.

The Ringleader is a major character. He is a magician, and his partner is a contortionist.

I really like the idea of The Night Circus! Two magicians competing against one another... but I can't use that idea. Any ideas at all will help! Thank you.

I think you mean 'Ringmaster' rather than 'Ringleader'.

Many years before 'The Night Circus' there was 'The Circus of Dr Lao' which featured a magical parade, and various magical incidents. There was also 'The Last Unicorn' with Mommy Fortuna's Midnight Carnival, with a genuine, though bad, magician, and 'Creatues of night, brought to light...'

You are going to have some difficulty in writing an original magic circus story.

Until you have a plot then don't say you're writing anything. Stop asking people to think for you and don't call other writers "fellow writers" if you're not actually a writer.

    You're not writing.

You're looking for approval on the internet. Writing isn't a communal activity, no matter how often you cheated on your homework.
