Why is my computer already hooked to Wi-Fi when I turn on my system?

Update:

Every night I exit Yahoo, disconnect my Wi-Fi, then shut down my computer. This afternoon I turned

on my system and it shows that I'm already hooked up to my Wi-Fi connection. What could be some reasons for this and is it a "bad" thing?

I'm going to assume you're somewhat of a Wi-Fi rookie.

The first time you tell a Wi-Fi device to connect to a Wi-Fi signal -- and it does it successfully -- it usually builds a small profile to "remember" the name of the Wi-Fi signal (the SSID) and the password it used. So, the next time you're in range of that signal your device will auto-connect to that signal. That's usually a good thing.

By the way, when shutting down your laptop/desktop you don't need to disconnect the Wi-Fi connection -- your system will do that for you. Just as it's connecting automatically for you when you boot up.
