"Second World" refers to the former communist-socialist, industrial states, (formerly the Eastern bloc, the territory and sphere of influence of the Union of Soviet Socialists Republic) today: Russia, Eastern Europe (e.g., Poland) and some of the Turk States (e.g., Kazakhstan) as well as China.

LOL, there never was a 1st nor a 2nd World phrase but I suspect that is not why you asked this question ... 3rd World just means life and living worse than any thing you or any child could imagine - full of poverty, disease, hunger and DEATH ... because there are so many BAD , GREEDY PEOPLE - businesses and especially politicians in this World ! Try reading some history too, then you won't have to ask such foolish questions - it is better to thought a fool than to remove all doubt - especially asking foolish questions on the net for all to see that proves one's stupidity !

A Second World country is one who sees through the lies of the First World countries.

During the Cold War, the wealthiest capitalist nations of the West were considered to be the "First World," the so-called socialist camp of nations under the leadership of the Soviet Union were considered "Second World," and the poorer nations of the global South were considered the "Third World."

I think it was the Chinese, under Mao's leadership, that first came up with the phrase, but I may be wrong. But in any case, the Chinese Communist Party leadership promoted the "three worlds" approach to foreign policy for some time. In this way, the Chinese hoped to recruit to their side many of the poorer Asian, African and Latin American countries who didn't always like Russian Communism or Soviet foreign policy.

The 2nd world doesn't exist. They're saying the distance between the 1st & 3rd are so wide that they are a world apart.

Those terms come from the Cold War. First world was United States and allies, Second world was Soviet Union and allies, and third world was unaligned.
