Why are Australians bogan?

The term bogan is an Australian and New Zealand slang word that can be used to describe any person with a lower working-class background,from any Country or whose speech, clothing, attitude and behaviour exemplify a gratified working class mentality and depending on the context, can be pejorative or self-deprecating.

The bogan person will generally lack sophistication and refinement. Like about 74% of the USA

Bogan is just another name for trailer trash or any kind of people who live on the fringes of society and lack normal social graces. Every country has them. Not all Australians can be classified as bogan. Australians do not find the term offensive either so bad luck if that is what you are wanting to do.

Some are, some aren't. If you like you can hire a guide and go on a Bogan spotting tour. Great fun as long as you don't make eye contact, keep arms and legs inside the vehicle and be back at the hotel before sundown.

Only those who are under 30, regularly drink and smoke or over eat are bogans, everybody else tries to stay clear of them!

Bogans are people from the lower-socioeconomic class who have unkempt hair, lack of social values and are often stigmatized as criminals.
