Only if your job requires knowing the local language and those are few and far between

So basically the answer is no, you just go where they send you

Knowing a foreign language could help in you assignment. Providing your in a job description that requires a foreign language skill. If your a COOK it would not make any difference at all.

By the Way, Okinawa is not the only place in Japan where you can get stationed.

Yokota Air Base just outsde Tokyo and the Naval Base at Yokosuka are two very large U.S. Military Bases.

Edit- I'm guessing the whole knowing Japanese was bullshit. huh ?

Answer -"If you really speak Japanese. Answer my post in Japanese. But I'm guessing you're just a lying troll."

It would only matter if you are in a job that needs the language. Like public affairs officer.

99% of the time it doesn't matter.

Nope it all depends on your Rating/MOS and what is needed where.

Ultimately, you will ALWASY be placed where you are needed.

But IF there is a choice, knowing a foreign language WILL work in your favor.

i don't think so. it only depends on what job you have and which base needs that job to be filled.

    good luck.

has less than zero impact unless your MOS/AFSC/Rating is Linguist
