Voice acting for anime?

Hey everyone.

I REALLY want to be a voice actor for anime, but don't know where to start. I know that most voice actors are actors first, but I just want to be a voice actor.

I am a pretty good actor, but have no acting or voice acting background, nor do I have any idea where to start

A lot of people say that i have a good voice, for voice acting and stuff, so I really want to start voice acting in anime, or anything really because it looks really fun!

thanks for any help!

P.S

I'm almost 14

I live in Tasmania, Australia

Update:

By the way, I don't really have any interest perusing an acting career, so yeah.

Thanks for any help

Update 2:

English dubbed anime is what i mean, like Funimation.

Sorry, but I think you have some very unrealistic expectations. Your question is full of contradictions. Dubbing work is ALOT more then just having an interesting voice.

    1. Voice acting IS ACTING - that's why companies hire actors to do it. A voice actor needs to be able to create characters and break down a script very quickly. They need to be a good actor with some serious chops. It's common for directors to ask for 3 different interpretations in quick succession (referred to as an ABC read).

You need acting training and experince. Classes in scene study and improv might be helpful. Getting involved in school shows and community theater will help you figure out if you can actually create a character well.

    2. Dubbing requires additional skills. You need to have an awareness of timing and the ability to speed up and slow down a read so you can match what you're running. The actor needs to be able to adjust their voice in small increments.

    3. Companies invest money in the anime and they trust that investment to trained and experienced professionals. This is a business and people are in it to make money, not make some kid's dream come true. You need an acting career to get work as a voice actor (you need an agent to get ulauditions, you need to be a member of the union). If you don't want an acting career - which is fine - but you're not going to get hired to do dubbing then. After all you'll be competing with adults for jobs - age doesn't matter for voice actors.

What you can do is have fun dubbing things on your own. Do some research on your own and get some sound editing software. Create your own stories and dub them. You and your friends can create your own shows or webseries for fun. It could be a nice hobby for you.

The most superior method for beginner voice over is Mark's Voice Plan (you can google it). That's how I got started

They only cast professional actors, and at 14 you'd be too expensive to hire. As you don't want to actually be an actor, you can forget this dream.
