Why is pot still illegal?

So many people sell it and grow it, its insane... yet despite its popularity, alcohol, cigarettes, perscription and. Otc meds are the legal government choice. If there were a vote, i bet more people than not would vote for legalization. Unfortunately its believed that weed being illegal may have its roots in historical racism... is it right to keep it illegal if the basis of it becoming illegal were racial? Does it make sense to make a plant "illegal"? Does "in God we trust" make sense on our money if we can not trust the plants believed by many to have been crated by God? It seems to me the truth is closer to "in political powers as god we trust and obey".

There have been votes. Californians voted to keep it illegal in 2010 (prop 19).

Why do potheads keep trying to claim that it should be legal because alcohol and cigarettes are legal. That's a really weak argument. If you want to legalize your recreational drug, try finding a more reasonable argument in support of it.

You can do and make many, many things with hemp leaves. the whole drug part of it is just their little excuse for it to be illegal. America doesn't want it's consumers to be self-sustaining.

yeah racism HAS to be the reason.
