Belkin duo band routers not working?

Update:

Have desktop running thru Mediacom internet (Iowa), with small but working Belkin N300 wireless router. Tried to upgrade to N750 DB or AC1000 DB routers, but can't seem to get them to work, won't allow internet to pass thru to computer. Can always set N300 back again and it always works fine. Any suggestions? Is it because the larger routers are duo band? thanks.

Update 2:

When hooked inline, I cannot get any connection thru any browser--Firefox, Chrome, etc. But if I upgrade or update a program, like antispyware or registry cleaner, then it connects fine to the internet and the updates work well. But any attempt to go thru a browser shows 'no connection'.

You probably need to read the setup instructions. It sounds like you are not getting the correct DNS settings from the new routers. With cable the MAC address may need to be updated by the cable company.

Try this when installing the routers. Unplug the MODEM power, install the router, connect power to the modem, then connect power to the router. Be sure an let the modem finish connecting before you power the router. Then login to the router per the directions shipped with the unit. Go to wan settings, be sure you have a valid IP and DNS addresses.. THen try your browsers.

Failure to follow the setup usually results in a partially working router. Some cable companies may need to record the "NEW" MAC address of the new router within the system for the new router to work.
