If my elderly mother is the victim of an internet scam, can she sue Dell and Microsoft?

Update:

This was actually prompted not by any scam but by the parallel with the Democrats' push to allow gun makers to be sued if their firearms are used in a crime. My question is a much closer parallel than the inanities coming out of the bill's proponents.

Don't forget her ISP and whoever made her keyboard. And Al Gore for inventing the internet.

Sure - won't get her anywhere but she can always try. Not their fault if the users of the internet stupidly falls for a scam - regardless of age. Why not go and sue the electric or cable company while you're at it - after all without the electric or cable company she wouldn't even be connected to the internet.

We, the elderly, are constantly being warned about scams - doesn't she read those warnings and pay attention to them? My mother is 90 years old and she knows better then to give out important information or to fall for those scams.

No, you are responsible for your actions. What you can do is educate your mother to the current scams so she doesn't fall victim again. Never give personal info over the phone. No government agency uses the phone to collect money for any reason. That includes fines, taxes. Microsoft never calls people to repair a virus. All scams. And nobody won a lottery in some other nation.

No she can't, dumba$$. Dell and Microsoft won't care about her unless she's like the wife of the President of the United States! Seriously, do something more productive and don't worry about what your mothet does in the internet. It's her fault and your fault for letting herself be on the computer! You should've told her to do something more relevant! If you're going to waste your money on crap like that, then you're even way more stupid than you are! Seriously, it's mostly her problem.

    Gun makers should be sued,

for allowing guns to get into the hands of terrorist.

You know they support gun running, anything for profits and gains.
