Around 18 months. I remember my mum taking me to the bakery, and the baker would offer me large colourful toffees for free. My mum would say "Oh that's going to spoil his appetite, I will give it to him later", and she would stuff the toffees into her purse.

Its a really vague memory, kind of like from a dream. My mum confirms that did really happen though, and she admits that she always ended up eating the toffees herself.

I'm 48 and the problem is, at that age, memories get blurred. I used to be very sure that the earliest memory was from the age of 3, and maybe it is true, but the more memories you collect, the less sure you are to which point in time you attribute them to. You start thinking in larger categories like "childhood", "when I worked there-and-there", "when I was thereabouts", and the exact year doesn't really matter. So my first memory is from "when I was at my grandparents' house", and I think I was 3 or 4 then.

I've heard stories of people who remember events that allegedly happened to them before they were born. I forget the story, you can Google it if interested.

A few years back I remember hearing a story of a 5-6 year old boy who recalled sailing on the Bismarck. He remembered the number of the ship and everything about it. Allegedly this boy had never seen or heard of a ship like this before. Somehow he knew facts about a boat built over a century prior his birth. Mere coincidence or reincarnation? No one knows 😮

    😂

    EDIT :

sorry, my earliest memory is waking up in the morning watching Jungle Book on VHS, that would have been the late summer of '93 so I would have been 2-3 years old.

Most people have their earliest memory around 30 months of age, but most kids don't begin to fully understand their surroundings until around 5 years of age.
