What would I use an old Desktop for?

I am looking for suggestions on what I can do with this desktop. Its from 2007, so its an Intel Q6600. It currently has Windows Vista and has been ridiculously reliable (with the exception of a burned out graphics card a few years ago). I will be getting a new Surface Pro so I will still have my Windows, and I finally need to get a router.

Right now my only idea is maybe putting Ubuntu on this desktop.

i watched videos of Linux Mint Cinnamon and Ubuntu...Mint is so much better. ive made my decision.....thanks stan and Aerialnine....and n/a gets useless 2 Y!A points

    I have an old turd like that. I put Linux mint 17.1 on it and installed a cheap video card to get an HDMI output. I use it for a HTPC in the den and it works just fine.
