Is there a media player that will not freeze up with large music collections, and has a playlist search that has parameters like song length?
I would like an easy way to make a playlist based on song length, and count. Windows media player always freezes up too, which is very irritating. I refuse to use itunes, so that isn't an option.

To answer the question... Yes, iTunes. That you refuse to use it is down to you and does not affect the answer.
