Which is the the strongest prescription -1.00 or -4.00 plus what do these numbers mean?

    The further from zero a prescription is, the stronger it is. -1.00 means that the farthest away you can see clearly is 1 meter/1 or 1 meter. -4.00 means that the farthest away that you can see clearly is 1 meter/4 or 25 cm.

    Optical powers are measured in diopters. -4.00 is stronger than -1.00 diopters.

    Diopters come in plus and minus.

    + prescriptions correct farsightedness for distance vision

    - prescriptions correct nearsightedness fo distance vision
