20 mg citalopram and drinking?

I just started taking it for depression and anxiety. I am going to a party and plan on drinking. I've never been on an antidepressant so I'm not sure how the whole drinking thing works with it.

Since alcohol is a depressant, it can interfere with your medication. It's best to avoid it, if you can. Your doctor might tell you that one or two drinks is fine, but you might end up feeling depressed for the next few days. If anyone asks why you choose not to drink, just say, "It interferes with my medication." You don't need to give anymore information than that.
