Is "Undercover Boss" a useful analogy for the Incarnation of the Word of God as Jesus Christ?

It presupposes that the people all know without question that the boss is real, but not someone they can interact with.

I very much like the Prime Directive in Star Trek. The premise is simply that every society has to evolve in its own time, and in its own way, and any sort of contact with an advanced civilization would upset this growth process. Therefore the Federation has to keep itself hidden at all costs, even at the cost of one's life.

If we saw and knew that God is real, it would utterly change the way we responded to all aspects of our lives, and God intends us to evolve in our own path, in our own time, and in our own way.
