When did U.S. manufacturing peak?

When we make America great again, what year will we go back to for our manufacturing? Sometime in the Reagan Administration, perhaps, before Obama destroyed America?

LOL. Actually, U.S. manufacturing output is peaking right now. The reason there are fewer manufacturing jobs than there were 15 years ago is that productivity per worker has improved dramatically with automation and robotics. U.S. manufacturing and U.S. manufacturing jobs have both increased under Obama. Not rapidly enough to prevent some manufacturing job loss to new workers, but increasing nevertheless.

late '60s early '70s was when inflation started to rise significantly and manufacturing started to decline. The postwar period, particular the '50s and early 60s, is often thought of as the golden age of American manufacturing.
