Why is gay marriage legal?

It is legal because through the Constitutional process the Supreme Court of the United States decided it is legal. If you happen not to like it then too bad because it is not going away. Learn to live with it. It won't hurt you. My great regret is the man I loved died before gay marriage became legal. How I would have loved to have married him.

If you are asking because of your religious up-bringing then consider this. If all things that are against some religious dogma, then we would be living under something like sharia (sp) law. No-one could drink. There would be no divorce. Premarital sex would be punished by death --- at least for the females. Every thief would have their right hand cut off. Religious dictates are very severe. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness would not exist. Adulterers would be stoned to death.

If you're talking about in the US, gay marriage is legal because the supreme court ruled that under the 14th amendment, gays deserve equal protection under the law.
