British citizen can stay how long out of the country?

    As long as they like. I left the UK in 1959, and was back for short visits in 1990, and 1991. So, about 4 weeks in total in almost 57 years.

    As long as you like. Would advice you to register with the embassy in the country of residence. They're also the people to talk to to keep your passport uptodate
