I had a heart attack 6 months ago and didn t go to the hospital for it. Is it possible I m okay?

I am under the age of 21 and had a heart attack 6 months ago when a "friend" gave me a drug at a party.

I didn t call an ambulance, but someone who had the same thing was taken to the hospital that night.

Since then, I have exercised my heart up to over 180 beats per minute with no obvious trouble. I have had lots of caffeine on more than one occasion. I have had prolonged cardio exercise, as well.

I have not seen doctors specifically for my heart attack, however I have had a physical and urine sample taken, and they raised no alarms.

What do I do? I am worried about long term damage. I know I still need to see a doctor, but am anxious. What can I expect?

You can't possibly know if you had a heart attack if you didn't go to hospital. It takes a series of blood tests, taken within the first 72 hours, to really know if you had a heart attack or not (any telltale enzymes released at the time of your 'event' will have gone by now making the blood tests useless).

MUCH more likely what you had was an episode of tachycardia which is an arrhythmia, not a heart attack. Nothing you can do about it after all this time.

How do you know you had a heart attack? yOU DON'T. You are diagnosing yourself and probably wrongly. Chest pain alone doesn't mean 'heart attack.' Recreational drugs often make the heart rate increase; in some cases, this can be fatal. However, it is more likely you just have severe side affects to whatever you were given.

I am presuming the doctors listened to your heart, gave you an ECG? Have you been honest with your dr what caused your symptoms?

I would just tell the doctor what occurred and let him/her take it from there.

You can expect a blood clot in the veins to your heart. I knew a guy who had a heart attack and all that happened was he had surgery to open up the clot to remove it and he's been fine ever sense then. But just because you look okay on the outside isn't always the case. My dog has had cancer for months and she never showed any signs.

A urine sample will not show heart problems, so that is useless in identifying whether you actually had a heart attack or not. The physical may not have been specific enough to identify much about the condition of your heart. You do need to see a doctor. Cut down on the caffeine, because that exacerbates heat problems. Avoid self diagnosis, please. The professional know what they're talking about.
