Is an employer in California obligated to give me the last name of an employee? This person threatened to kill me but I can't prove it,?

    Ps, they never checked his background when he was hired, or anyone's who works there. Yet they told me that they are kind of a second chance stop for a lot of people.

    Only if you have a court order obliging them to release that information.

    no they aren't. if that was the case anyone could get info on someone if they know where they work. The only way you could do something is if you had proof and took it to the cops.

    No they are not. You do not need the last name to make a police report.

    no. in fact, they are likely obligated not to.

    get a court to order it, if you can.
