Why did the Pokemon writers get rid of Misty?
The relationship she had with Ash was one of the integral parts of the show. I think it's pretty messed up she just got killed off, her and Ash are meant to be together. I know she had to take over the gym, but she could have easily been brought back. This was the love story of my childhood and it drives me crazy that Ash just left Misty behind. I know there's Dawn and May, but they don't have what Ash and Misty had. Haha the newer episodes are terrible.

It's because they "wanted new eye-candy," according to what I can remember. The guys who made the anime were probably tired of having the same main girl all of the time, so they decided to switch her with each new region and game, starting at Hoenn.

they didn't "kill her off". she's been in episodes with may. they likely brought in may to show off the playable female character in ruby and sapphire. if there was a female player in gold and silver instead of just in crystal, they probably would have gotten rid of her earlier. keeping the kanto cast for so long gets stale and makes it harder to show off characters of new regions. i'm surprised they kept brock as long as they did tbh. they could have easily replaced him with wally or even brendan for pokemon advanced
