USA Today Sports Weekly polls its writers every week and the Cubs have been the unanimous choice in all but a couple of weeks. All 10 writers believe that they have been the best team in baseball all season long.

I'm a lifelong Cubs fan, but I don't agree. Adding Chapman was good but the team did nothing to bolster the rotation, which was overworked early because of a weak bullpen.

Pitching is the key to the postseason and I believe that John Lackey and Jason Hammel are detrimental to the Cubs success. I'm also not sold on Montgomery and Cahill in the 'pen. Lack of quality pitchers will hurt them in the playoffs so I would argue that the best team in baseball is the Cleveland Indians.

They have quality pitching, strong defense, and timely hitting. If they'd added Lucroy, they would have been unstoppable.

The best (MLB) baseball team is the team that wins the World Series. They are then the World Series Champions. They receive a trophy and are forever listed as World Series Champions.

Certain teams can be ranked best by the media during the season, but regular season games are played to reach the playoffs and then win the World Series. Ranked best teams in August don't always win the real best team championship in October.

The Yankees have the most world series championships with 27. but they last won in 2009.

This 2016 season, the Cubs have the best record of 70-41. since the all-star break, they've won every series. and are currently on a eight game winning streak. they also have a 12 game lead in the central division, which is the largest lead in any division in baseball. with the Cardinals in second behind the Cubs.

1.Cubs- They have a decent bullpen with the addition of Chapman, a great starting rotation with Arrieta and Lester, and exceptional hitting with Rizzo and Bryant. Their weakness is still bullpen.

2.Nats- They have a slightly better bullpen then the cubs with Melacan, a prominent rotation with Sherzer and Strasburg, and their hitting is powerful with the duo of Murphy and Harper.

3.Indians- They have the best bullpen between these four teams with Miller. They also have consistent hitting throughout the entire lineup, which makes them such a good team.

4.Rangers- They have added two dynamic hitters in Jonathon L. and Beltran to their already good lineup. Their pitching is average and can be improved on, but will take them deep into the playoffs.

So overall, NL is doing better than the AL as the rankings are

The best baseball team today is the New York Mets. The Mets have had an unfortunate season as the infamous injury bug is currently lurking in their dugout. With a full, healthy squad, the Mets have one of the best rotations in MLB history- Syndergaard, DeGrom, Matz, Colon, Wheeler, and Harvey.
