If you go to psych and try to get out they will try to keep you. It is a long process anyway. If you really have a mental disorder they will put you on a 6 month hold. Say for instance you have depression. They try to treat you for it first...let you take medications and therapy. At the end of the 6 months they will re evaluate you. Then decide if you will be discharged.

If you play the psych game it can backfire. You could be diagnosed with other things such as an adjustment disorder or personality disorder both will be administratively discharged...and there are little benefits for those two things.

If you have a record of disciplinary actions...it could get you discharged on an administrative discharge for the good of the military..and leave you with little to no benefits. (depending on the type of discharge.)

The Chaplain can not influence your discharge. He or she may give you counseling that can help overcome some issues you might be going through. They can pray with you and offer spiritual advice if that is something you would want...but they are not going to help "get you out" of the Army. That is not their job.

In some cases the Chaplain can talk with the chain of command on your behalf...but generally they don't do that. Sometimes they will go to a command when the service member is not having his or her religious needs met or if they think that the member is in danger of harming himself/herself or others...

You've been trying to get out now for the last 8 months. Do you honestly think that you will get out because you miss mommy ?
