Does hair on a corpse decompose?

Also does it stay the same color after a long period of time?

Yes, it decomposes over time just as all organic materials do.

The time required for decomposition obviously depends upon the local environmental conditions. In certain circumstances, hair can prove to be extremely durable. This New Scientist article discusses the extraction of DNA from human hair found at a prehistoric Native American site that is over 10,000 years old!

It can also change color, depending again upon the local environmental conditions. For example, the hair on prehistoric corpses recovered from peat bogs have been naturally dyed by the watery bog environment.
