Why didn't the CPS in Britain charge Anjem Choudary with "Treason". It hasn't been used in a while, but can carry a life sentence.?

Because nothing he has done counts as treason.
The definition of treason is in the Treason Act 1351. No, that is not a typo. The following things are treason, and I have had to translate this into modern English:
- planning to kill the monarch, their spouse, or the heir apparent to the throne
- adultery with the Queen, the monarch's eldest daughter, or the heir apparent's wife
- making war against the monarch
- giving aid and comfort to the enemy
- killing the Chancellor, Treasurer or a judge.
Choudary has qualified as a solicitor (though he has since been kicked out of the Law Society) and he knows that as well as I do. He has always been careful never to commit any of these offences, and he hasn't. "Giving aid and comfort to the enemy" looks plausible but it has been well established that "enemy" has to be another country, so it only means anything during wartime. (In fact that was the last time this Act was used - to convict Lord Haw-Haw of treason during WWII for his "Germany calling" radio broadcasts. Of course the death penalty still existed in 1946 and he was hanged.)
In the absence of the UK actually being at war, the best the CPS could do was charge Choudary with inviting support for a proscribed organisation, namely the so-called Islamic State, contrary to section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000. The maximum sentence for this is 10 years' imprisonment, so the 5 1/2 years he actually got is quite long - sentencing guidelines usually suggest a third of the maximum for a first offence.
To charge him with treason would be an admission that so-called Islamic State is in fact a country, not just a terrorist organisation, and the UK is at war with it. We do not accept that it is a country, so it can't be treason. Recognising it as a country would only encourage it.
It may help to know that HM Prison Service will have difficulty in keeping him safe from other prisoners. One of the killers of Lee Rigby mysteriously lost a tooth or two while on remand in Belmarsh awaiting trial. There are two things the average prisoner doesn't like and isn't too worried about going to adjudication for:
- paedophiles
- disrespect of our armed forces.

Our law enforcement (politicians too) are complete *******. This conviction is a token gesture they dont have the stones to address the problem. The ideology which is .... Islam and the Islamisation of Britain and Europe. A very long road ahead civil war is inevitable in several European countries.
