Can I use a 120w speaker amplifier with 100w speakers?
I have some old Polk m3 100w speakers I was hoping to use, I found a Pyle amplifier I like but it gives off 120w of power to each speaker, would this be ok to do?
Thank you for your help

The Pyle amplifier probably will not get even close to its rated power but this doesn't mean you cannot blow the speakers with it. Speaker power handling is very complex and cannot be completely expressed by a single number like "100 watts". Many a speaker have been blown with far less than the rated power. Keep the volume reasonable and don't go cranking the bass or treble up and you should be ok.

Many makers grossly over-rate the output of their amps/receivers/speakers.
I agree with spacemissing, I just wouldn't call cheap stuff garbage, just low quality.
It's better to have an amplifier rated higher than the speaker because then you can run the amp cooler i.e. at volumes much less than full, but still get max power from the speaker without
distortion.

If the Pyle amplifier is one of the new series ("Pro"),
it doesn't have a chance of delivering 120 watts.
Those products are all garbage.
Even their RMS power ratings are bogus.
In any case, you can use whatever amplifier you have
with whatever speakers you have.
Simply be careful and Listen for anything that doesn't sound good.
If something doesn't sound good, reduce the volume Immediately.

It is fine except it means the amp has the definitive capability to BLOW the speakers. You turn the volume up too high and pow, theyre gone.

yup. just don't overdrive the volume control. Just like with a car.s gas pedal, It doesn't matter how big the engine is, it matters how you drive it
