Has the death of Geoff Gaherty been been noted here?
Sorry if this has been done, as I've been out of the loop here for some months, so I just noticed the absence of answers. A search returned:

Yes, I did. I did not realize it until several weeks afterwards- I noticed he wasn't answering questions so I looked for him and saw he was gone. I had posted a couple of questions and was looking forward to his answers.
I never met him personally, but exchanged emails. He was a nice fellow, and his answers here may help people for years to come.

I wanted to post this anonymously. As a community of astronomers it is always sad to lose a friend, even one from cyberspace. An anonymous tribute was most appropriate.

Yes, but apparently Yahoo missed the memo. He's still at the top of the leaderboard. Perhaps it's a tribute.

It has indeed but I missed it so was unaware of his passing. I had noticed that he hadn't answered questions lately but I sometimes take a hiatus due to other projects so I thought nothing of it.
GeoffG was one of the most prolific answerers on this site, his wisdom and his good nature made this site much better for his presence.
He will definitely be missed.

He was a great person. He was a kind and thoughtful person which made a lasting impression on everyone in the astronomy/space community.

Yes, it's been a very sad loss.
I never knew him other than through his replies, but the patient quality of his answers never varied and you couldn't help but respect and admire him. He was a true gentleman astronomer.
